A talented independent developer has created Desktop Goose, a small application that carries all the pixelated anarchy of a sticky goose directly on your screen.
Once downloaded and decompressed, Desktop Goose activates double click on GooseDesktop, freeing a virtual goose that will not hesitate to make your work session (or leisure) a little more... interesting. Imagine being focused on an important document, when suddenly a small goose drags a random window right there, or leaves a note with a sgrammed but hilarious phrase. And we don't forget the mouse cursor, which might be unexpectedly dragged out of the screen for a short chase.
Desktop Goose is not limited to this: wait unexpected memes that appear, traces of virtual mud that “clean” your windows and, of course, theimmancabile digital starnazzo who will constantly remind you of his presence. The application manifests itself through small pop-up windows with messages like “am goose hjonk” or “the causes problems on purpose”, adding a touch of surreal humor to your computer routine.
The creator of this sympathetic disorder is Sam Chiet, a young developer who, inspired by the spirit “anarchist but controlled” of the goose Untitled Goose Game, wanted to create an unexpected and fun desktop experience. As he himself states, the goal is to “slightly annoy“, offering a sort of “power fantasy for shy people” through the irreverent actions of this digital creature.
The installation is very simple: just download the compressed file, unzip it and start it to see the goose make its appearance. If by chance chaos should become excessive, a simple prolonged pressure of “Esc” key will temporarily remove the pennutum, bringing the desktop back to normal.
Desktop Goose is based on basic Windows features, using them in creative and unexpected ways. Although some users reported occasional warnings from antivirus software (a common phenomenon for applications of this type that interact unusually with the system), the intent of the developer is purely ludic and not harmful.
